INSPIRING WORDS

THE FUTURE IS TODAY

The future of any individual is the bedrock or the foundation she propel to achieve tomorrow, in the days before. Many a time, people fail to realize the fact that, success is not easy to come by in anyway, but attained through sheer hard work, perseverance and dedication. To achieve the incredible you must attempt the impossible. Great people abound in the Diaspora, with different tales of how they made their way up the ladder of success. Greatness in itself comes in three variants. Some people are born great, greatness bestows itself on some, and lastly some people achieve greatness. If we must get to the pinnacle of our career, sacrifices have to be made, no matter how voluminous it is, so long we are focused and dedicated towards realizing this set objectives.
Let us take Abraham Lincoln as a case study. Lincoln, by inference, is one of the most prominent and revered leaders to have ever ruled America. Before he became the President of this great nation, which stands out as the world's most powerful country, he failed many times in his quest to get to the top. He contested for several positions in the then American polity. Like a Trojan, he strived hard to get what he wanted. He was never deterred
by the single fact that he has failed in the past; rather he refused to be defeated and remained steadfast and strong like the rock of Gibraltar. So my dear, if you have not yet reached the zenith of your career do not let go, you may never know how close you are to getting what you want, a step further may just turn out to be the last step you needed to make to achieve your goal, so why back out.
Robert Schuller, a philosopher, a motivator and a devoted Christian, is yet another man, we can make references to. He titled his book "Tough times never last, but tough people do". If we reminisce over this, we would realize that, only those who are strong, not physically this time, make headway in life. What we can deduce from this book, is that, tough or unpleasant state of being is not permanent, but temporary, if only we choose to face our problems rather than run away from them. He was a victim of circumstance. He pursued his dream in spite of all odds, and at the end, he made it to the top. Today, he owns one of the biggest cathedrals in the United States.
There are other men, who were great at one time or the other. Some made their mark in the field of science and in other areas of discipline. Notably are; Louis Pasteur, the great French chemist. He discovered that infectious diseases are caused by germs.
Dr Alfred Nobel, Swedish chemist and inventor of dynamite. The annual Nobel Prize is named after him.
Sir Alexander Fleming, a Scottish bacteriologist. He discovered Penicillin, which kills or prevents the growth of bacteria harmful to man.
Scotsman, Alexander Graham Bell, he invented the telephone; in 1876 he spoke to his assistant in another room. An electric current carried his words "Mr Watson, come here, I want you" along the wire.
Sir, Isaac Newton, one of the greatness scientists of all time, used a prism to analyze
Bill Gates, the CEO of Microsoft Corporation, had hitherto wanted to be a Medical Doctor. He left Medical school and delve into the field of computer, when he realized he could do a lot better in that area. Today, he is one of the richest men on earth.
Martin Luther King Jr and Williams Wilberforce fought for the abolition of slave trade, with the notion that all men were equal before God, irrespective of their status quo, race and color. Even after their demise they are been remembered for that.
Dr Nelson Mandela, he agitated for the emancipation of South Africa, to create an egalitarian society for all without any racial sentiments attached. Let us not forget the men in the earliest times, talking about people in the Bible like King David, King Saul, King Solomon, Ezekiel, Jacob, Joseph to mention but a few. All these men left an imprint behind on the sands of time.
So I will like to enjoin anybody, who reads this epistle, to set goals for himself. Think positively about yourself and your set objective; believe that you can make it. Robert Schuler said "The me you see, is the me you will be". The way you see yourself is the way you will end up being. If you think nothing good can come off you, well am afraid you will remain that way. You are great, I must tell you.
God made man in his own image and likeness and so by the virtue of that we are great in every sense of the word. He has a purpose for us here on earth, and that purpose will be accomplished by his grace. By providence, every man has a right to live the way he or she so desires. The way you lay your bed, so you lie on it. But the question here is do you want to live a fulfilled or an unfilled life, the kind of life that God has destined for you, the kind of life that when people see you, they would want to emulate you and thread your footstep or the direct opposite?
Now is the appointed time, delay could be dangerous. Procrastination is a thief of time. Do not postpone that which you can do today, cause you may never have the chance of doing it again. Take a stand today on what you want to do with your life. Make efforts to achieve it, pray, remain steadfast, focused, determined, endure all kinds of pains, be kind, do not do things to satisfy yourself to the detriment of others. History have shown that, this stage of decision making, is not only the parameter that will guide you to your dream future, but also the stimulant enshrined in you, which keeps nudging in your sub-consciousness for the task ahead of you.
Be that as it may, pray fervently for yourself and for your career and see what the Lord will do. It is somewhat rewarding, if this is done. Make a move for the ladder of success is never crowded at the top, least the Bill Gates', the Alexander Fleming's of this world would not have made it up there, it would have been filled up before they get there. Winston Churchill once said, "Winners never quit, and quitters never win", it is as simple as it sounds. Let us be pragmatic in our approach towards life. This life is too short, so make the most of it today. Your life has to be augmented. You are on the threshold of making history. It is pertinent to know that you can soar high if you believe in yourself and what you do. So aim for the sky. Yesterday was good, today is better, and tomorrow will be the best of them all.
